September 2010

I've decided to try to write a monthly update at the end of every month so I can look back and see where the month has gone.

This month (September) was extremely busy!

ACTIVITIES & EVENTS:

Labor day weekend we drove to Chicago to see the city. Planning it last minute saved us a lot of money. We walked all around the downtown area and sampled the best hotdog and deep dish pizza places while we were there. It seems that people in Chicago don't mind waiting for long periods of time for food and they have no qualms about driving over the yellow line to pass someone (crazies). The downtown area was very pretty and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We were able to see the Sears Tower, Navy Pier, etc.

Me and Logan in front of Lake Michigan (Logan's first trip)

The second week of September was spent at the Renaissance Festival. This was a blast for all of us! We went with Anthony's family on the weekend that was themed for RPG and video gamers. We dressed up for the occasion. The atmosphere alone made it very enjoyable: trees, creeks running by, and of course the area was built to mimic old architecture of the time. Joseph, Anthony, and Luke competed in a foam weapon tournament and Joseph got 4th place! :)

The ladies' Bible study at church started up again and I am very much enjoying this time. We're studying the book of Philippians inductively and it has been a very productive and encouraging time. Studying inductively means lots of homework, but it also brings much learning.

Anthony is also becoming a cadet leader (a boy's group like scouts) at the church.  That just started up last night.  Luke is going to be one of the cadets.

We spent some time doing projects here and there in the house (and by "we," I mean Anthony).  He fixed the toilet, put in a new shower head (I love you mr. shower head), put up new curtains and pull down shade in the bathroom (very classy), and did the project in the front yard.  Anthony's been a very busy man.

Uncle Jay came and visited us last weekend too!

Anastasia was born this month as well!  Praise the Lord. :)

LOGAN

:o) Besides going to sleep, Logan is a great baby (and he's getting better at the sleeping thing all the time). He's content no matter what we do and where we go. He's very alert and observant. Looking at trees and green things is something he loves when we go out on our walks. He's slept through the night the past three nights in a row (woohoo!).  Hopefully, it will stick for good this time.  He can put himself back to sleep pretty well now that he can roll from left side to right side and vice versa.

He sleeps with a cuddle object sometimes.  I usually take it away after he falls asleep.

We're graduating to a bigger carseat soon since he's outgrowing the baby carrier one that Isaac and Diane purchased for us. I was so thankful that the carrier doesn't expire until 2016 so it can be used for more than one baby (maybe more than two? lol).

We've come a long way since he was just days old (below).
Look at how the preemie clothes barely fit!

4 months old
Now we're wearing 1 year old clothes and just cuffing the pants a couple times.

In Other News...
I've been cooking a lot lately (and by "lately" I mean since I started staying home).  I started out with a goal of one new recipe a week and I've picked up trying new things like crazy.  Sometimes I'll even leave a night open on my meal plan and just make something new from what we have in the house (that was tonight). I started a visual recipe box (click on the link to visit it) where I've been putting all the gluten free ones I make.  Tonight I just made asparagus, chicken, and mozzarella cheese wrapped in a slice of ham. Not too bad.   There's no recipe because I was just winging it.  But! I have some good ones I'm going to put up soon so stay tuned.
The weather is finally starting to cool down and dry out for us.  Today I opened up the windows because it was 75 degrees (nice!).  It got up to 80 inside with the sun beating down, but I LOVED IT!  I miss my warm dry weather sometimes.  Monday morning is supposed to dip into the upper 30's.  BRRR!
The October update will most likely be showcasing some nice fall colors.  :)
