April

April 2012

Overheard in our home this month:
Logan:  "Watch this, Mama!" (thankfully this is usually followed by Logan simply running from one place to another and nothing more dangerous than that).

Me:  "I can read this book with my eyes closed.  How sad is that?"
Anthony: "No, that's good.  It means you're reading to our kids."

Me to Anthony:  "He's just too interested in playing toys to eat.  Who made this kid?"
Logan (overhearing us): "God."

Logan:  "Hear it? It's an airplane"  or you can sub in anything else that makes noise:  lawn mower, truck, fire truck, doggy, choo choo, etc.  It's too cute to watch him put his hand to his ear and ask if you hear something.

Logan is getting bigger and bigger and bigger.  Even if it's not in physical terms, he's growing up in so many other ways.
As you can see from the above quotes, he's quite a talker and he understands a lot of what's going on around him.  Thankfully much of his thought process occurs out loud so I can tell that he's alright or that he's about to get into trouble even if I'm around the corner.
He loves to go to church.  He'll ask you almost every day if it's time to go to church.  We are slowly working on sitting in the service for as long as he can tolerate it.  The last day of April was our combined service with other reformed churches in the city.  It's a shorter service and it's held at a different church.  The change of pace and the larger building made it easier for Logan to sit through almost the entire service.  He sat through all but 5 or so minutes, which is a record compared to regular services where he never makes it to the sermon.

This month Logan started potty training.  I had no intentions of starting him down this road before the baby came, but when 'someone' can go potty on himself during every diaper change and laugh about it, I figured he could do it in the actually potty too.   Sure enough, it's been working.  It's still really early (he's 23 months) and this is just the beginning, but it's a really good start to be able to sit down and actually go potty one to two times a day.  He's not a huge fan of doing it, but we'll get there.

We also picked up a twin sized bed for Logan.  We plan on introducing it soon and probably keeping it on the floor so there's not a big drop if he rolls off.  We have some great dinosaur sheets and blankets (although, with the weather he might only be seeing the sheets).

"Hear it? Hear it?  Lawn mower."

Other events this month:

Anthony's class started.  It's going well and he's enjoying it.  So far, so good. :)  Tuesday's are a long and tiring day for Anthony, but he's hanging in there like a champ.  The school asked him to teach two classes next quarter which starts July 7 (hmm...familiar date?  oh yah, that's my due date).  After praying about it and taking it all into consideration, Anthony decided to stick with the one class for two more quarters before adding any new ones.  Baby made for a good excuse. :)

Our little baby girl seems to be doing very well.  I'm very thankful to say that she seems to be rotating finally.  I feel kicks in different places for the first time.  We had our pre-delivery appointment at the hospital this month.  We filled out all the paperwork and took the tour again.  I also found out that the best way to shock a labor and delivery nurse is to tell her that you had a natural labor the first time and you want to do it again.  Haha.  It's hard to wait after seeing all the cute little babies at the nursery though.  9 or so more weeks!

Next Month:
Anthony turns 26
Logan turns 2
My Mom and Dad come to visit
Garmin Family Day
Memorial Day
