Monthly Updates: November!

November!

November is my favorite month.  I love the fall.  I love the colors. And!  I love Thanksgiving.

This is was my first time doing Thanksgiving.  Minus the casualty of the carrot cake, everything went wonderfully!  All the favorites plus two of Anthony's as well.  Maybe with a little tweaking next year will be even better. :o)

Eating real food for the first time

LOGAN
This month Logan turned 6 months old.  At his check up he weighed in at 20 lbs.  We started solids about a week before the six month mark and he's picked up quickly and is eating as much as 2 ounces or so, three times a day.  He spends most of his play time on his tummy, rolling around and finding things to get into, or in his jumper.  He also loves to scream like a pterodactyl in delight.  He's sitting up on his own now and only really falls over when he wants to get to his belly (which is all the time).  He's getting closer and closer to crawling.  He can scoot on his tummy really well and often gets up on his hands and knees even if he doesn't go anywhere while he's up there.

We're still working on sleep, but we've made enormous progress in the past week or so.  I have to say that even when Logan sleeps I will still often wake up and get up for this reason or that, but last night I didn't wake up once between 12:30 and 6 am and it felt wonderful.  I had so much energy that I got up and made Anthony eggs for breakfast, made the bed, was dressed, etc. all before 7:30.  Hopefully we'll have some more mornings like that.

We've had a rather interesting fall.  As of Thanksgiving just about every leaf had fallen.  But back when I took this picture in early November you can see that some trees lost everything really early, some remained green until the last second, and some changed colors in the middle.

I've had lots of people ask me what I do all day so I suppose I'm being thought of as lazy these days, but I promise that I've been keeping busy with this thing and that thing.  I've been learning to eat gluten free (big learning curve, although not as big thanks to mom's experience and guidance), cooking all kinds of new recipes (even when I forget to blog about them on my recipe box site), sleep training Logan, planning and making Thanksgiving happen, as always, learning how to grocery shop on the cheap, trying out a couple cloth diapers, spending many hours in the Word, thanks to my inductive Bible study, cross stitching, planning out my next attempt to reteach myself how to sew, etc. etc. etc.  And now I've started to watch my niece during the day.  Busy busy.  I will say that just about all my Christmas preparations (gifts, etc. Thanks to Anthony for his huge help with that) are done.  I get to wrap, decorate, bake, and enjoy the rest of the month with little stress.  I'm planning on trying out a new recipe before Christmas:  Pumpkin Cheesecake.  yum.  Stay tuned on that one.

And...to top the month off:  On the very last day of November we had our first snowflakes!  :) Sounds like a good month to me!  Thank the Lord for His goodness!

Next Month:
Logan's first Christmas

  1. The leaves are falling off the trees here this week. It's as close as we get to autumn.
