Summer happenings

Our Summer 2013

Logan:
He has listened to close to 75 different books in the past 2 1/2 months.  These 75 do not include rereading a story over and over.  His favorite is "Mike Mull" (Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel) with "Katy and the Big Snow" coming in a close second I think.  I've been trying to find classic kids books for him and he's been doing great.  Some are just not in his interest area and he finds it hard to sit through them, but these are very rare.  Usually he'll sit for several at a time.  Right before bed, after Elena goes down has been a good, distraction free time for reading.
Logan is now potty trained at home.  Still working on the 'away from home' times.  Showing great progress in that area too.
He's learned the first ten children's catechism questions. yay!

Elena:
Standing more and more.  She took her first step at the end of July.  The next day she came down with the high fever for Roseola (see picture of very sad and spotted child).  Monday thru Thursday she had a fever and on Friday the spots showed themselves.  She was quite the polka dotted baby. She's recovered from that now, but still working on about 5 new teeth poking through the surface.
Her vocabulary is booming.  "I want some," "That one," and other phrases are now heard around the house. She also calls me "Mam" now, which is super cute.
Her walking is starting to pick up now.  A week or two and there will be no more crawling.

A happening from today:
Logan:  Mom! She's touching it! She's TOUCHING it!
Me:  What is she touching?
Logan:  The toilet.
I ran to the bathroom hoping to scoop her up and wash her hands before any nasty toilet water was splashed about or before anything got dropped in.  But instead of finding Elena with her hands in the toilet I found her, toilet brush in two hands "scrubbing" the toilet in an up and down motion.  Ok...really it was a glorified splashing.  But nonetheless, it was super cute to find a 13 month old cleaning the toilet when most kids her age are just dropping toys and cell phones in it.
Forgive me for putting a picture of the toilet on the internet.
Here are some August pictures:
We took the car seats out of the car while it was getting fixed.  Perfect reading seats.
