Kiddos were starting to go back to school so there were less people coming and going from our home during the day. Anastasia is still here each week and sometimes we get Lucas to come over and play.
Logan has been learning all kinds of new words and now added phrases. "Turn it on/off" is the favorite. "Sit down," etc. "Please" is now a regular word we say 20 times a day to avoid whining. Grandma even taught him the word teeth. He loves to show me where his teeth are now.
At the beginning of the month I noticed one of the smallest barrel toys was missing. I searched high and low, in closets, and under furniture. Finally, through the process of elimination I figured it must have made it into the trash or ...down the living room air vent. Our vents are on the floor and while we were working on the house we took some of them off. This one did not end up getting screwed back in place. It sits in place unless little fingers find a way to pull it off again. Well, of course Logan found a way to pull it off and before I managed to screw it back in place he put a toy down the vent. I reached my hand down and sure enough, there was the missing toy. Only, I could just barely touch it but couldn't pull it out. I had to wait for Anthony to come home so we could go into the basement and unscrew the vent from that end and pull the toy out from underneath. It was quite the daring toy rescue. Just like Toy Story...but not quite as interesting. Daddy has been rescuing toys left and right ever since.
September
Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Jay came to visit us in early September. During their trip we visited the museum and Logan had fun walking around there. Just as we were leaving it started to rain. Actually, it was more than rain...it was pouring. This occurred as we were walking to the car that was parked along the street. We were pretty wet.
A couple weeks later we woke up to a rainy Sunday morning. Logan stood on his tip toes and looked out the window and said, "raining!" It took us hours to figure out when he could have learned that word. It must have been when we were running to the car in the pouring rain at the museum. It was a memorable example of "raining" I'm sure.
Aunt Cathy, Emma, Laura, and T.J. came to see us later in the month. During their visit we went to the Hallmark Crown Center. They have a shopping plaza, a children's center (unfortunately closed during Sept), and the Hallmark Visitor's Center. It was quite an interesting spot. I'm looking forward to going back again. I heard on the radio that they broke ground on the new Legoland that they are building there.
Logan is now 16 months old. I lost count of all the words he knows long ago. He just recently rediscovered his love for books. Now he'll sit through a couple books while mama or daddy reads them. He often will read them by himself too. His favorite book this month is Noah's ark. Some new words this month were: Noah, Amen, Moon, Baby, Bible, and "End" (as in "the end").
We went to the Renaissance Festival again this year. Of course there were all the normal renaissancy things... Kings, Queens, swords, armor, knights, jousting, and also, napping during the jousts...
One of our favorite parts of the festival is the artisans. Looking at all the handmade and unique objects for sale is great fun.
No current plans for the month of October. I will try for some pretty fall pictures this year and we'll see if they get taken. :)
The Renaissance Fair looks like a lot of fun! My boys would love that, as we are just starting a unit about that time period!
