We had a great visit with Grandpa and Grandma Holmes and Uncle Jay when they came to visit for Logan's birthday party a couple weeks ago.
Other events this Month:
Softball started up again! The church softball team has already won two games. Anthony is playing catcher again and Logan and I have managed to make it to one game even though they are technically past his bedtime. :)
Anthony's birthday was at the beginning of the month and we celebrated at a friend's house with lots of ice cream cake. :)
We were able to go to Anthony's company "fun day" at Worlds of Fun (the local Knotts Berry theme park). The company rented out the whole park so there were almost no lines. We had quite a bit of fun.
I had my first opportunity to cook a meal for the council meeting (elders and deacons meeting). Phew. That was interesting to do. Cook a ton of grub and then pack it all to go. I made chicken enchiladas, Mexican rice, a ton of toppings for the enchiladas, chips, and apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for dessert. I ended up making double the enchiladas than were actually needed (which was good because then I got some and there were leftovers).
My garden is growing by leaps and bounds. I see the flowers on the plants opening up to be pollinated which means produce is just around the corner! I did actually spot my very first tomato last night. Very exciting. I am currently welcoming all lady bugs though. The aphid population has helped itself too much already. I spotted two said little ladies last night, much to my relief. Hopefully they will tell their friends.
Actually, I just spotted our first zucchini too:
The church's Memorial Day picnic was a fun treat for us at the end of the month. We went and played on the playground, had bbq, and Anthony and I played some volleyball while Logan played with Grandpa Sato.
The weather was very nice this month and Logan and I were able to take many, many walks around the neighborhood. We love our walks. One of Logan's favorite activities has been spotting and pointing out the squirrels while we stroll up and down the streets. He has a good eye for them and lets me know when he sees them by saying, "Swirrl!" repeatedly. It's really sweet.
Logan is also developing quite a sense of humor. When he's in his highchair he loves to bend his body and try to eat his toes. He only does this to see my reaction to it and hear me say, "No, we don't eat our toes." :) He laughs and laughs.
Today we were sitting on the couch pretending to drink out of a big cup. I would take a "sip" and smack my lips and then he would take a "sip" and smack his lips too.
He can follow some simple directions, like "kiss the teddy bear" and "put your cup on the table".
I've been teaching him to clean up his toys and throw them in the toy box. Unfortunately he has universalized this and I've found shoes in the garbage once or twice. :(
Now that Logan has turned 1 this month, I'm really seeing the toddler in him come out. Even in the past couple weeks he has changed so much. He's not mommy's little baby any more. He loves to wrestle and be chased around the house. He adores going outside. Once he's walking I'm hoping it will be easier to bring him out in the backyard more. Trying to keep him from crawling on the blacktop is difficult. He seems to be magnetically drawn to it.

He loves his birthday toys. Thank you to everyone for the toys and clothes you sent. Logan is getting great use out of all of them. The sun hat that Brett, Sarah, and Thomas sent has been used every single day so far, especially at the picnic when it was very windy and very sunny. Logan loves the puzzle that Grampy sent. He knows the pieces go on the puzzle board and puts them there and takes them off and repeats. He even crawls around holding the handles of the pieces, clopping around like a horse with new shoes. He's not quite walking yet so he hasn't fully grasped the idea of the tumbler that Great Uncle Rob, Great Aunt Cathy, and cousin Emma sent. He still tries to drive it on the floor with his hand like a car. He'll get there though. I saw him take his first step alone just last night (June 2nd). Once he's walking I'm sure he'll love running around pulling it all over the place.
